5 Reasons Why You Should Have a Journal

1. Writing in a journal allows you to keep track of thoughts, ideas, and goals

One of the things I love about keeping a journal is being able to write down all of my thoughts and ideas as they come to me. The worst thing ever is having a great idea, not being able to write it down, and forgetting it.

2. Having a journal gives you an outlet for emotions and helps you to process them

If you're like me, you have a hard time expressing yourself and communicating your feelings. Having a journal gives you a private place to write down your feelings and as you write them down, you have a better chance of processing them and getting down to the root cause of your feelings.

3. Writing helps you to unlock your creativity

I do not think I am the most creative person, but writing and journaling has allowed me to unlock my creativity in ways that I never have before. Creativity doesn't look like painting and dancing for everyone, but it could look like coming up with blog topics that will really help your reader or creating something else that will change someones life. One thing that has really helped me is getting journals with journal prompts like this one.

4. Keeping a journal helps to improve your writing skills

Practice makes perfect. You don't have to be a blogger or a journalist to want to improve your writing. Whether you're writing essays in school or creating contracts for clients, keeping a journal and writing everyday will help you become a better writer.

5. Writing things down also helps to improve memory

Like I said in reason #1, there's nothing worse than having a great idea and it slipping right out of your mind. Even in college, we were encouraged to write down our notes instead of typing them on our laptops because writing allows you to actually process the information that you're taking in and allows you to remember it better! This is why I think it's so so so important to write down your goals because you're more likely to remember them, thus being more likely to achieve them.

So now you're convinced that you should be journaling, but what kind of journal should you get? Well, I have the answer!

In 2019, we will have multiple different journals here at Planted in Purpose including the transformation journal, affirmation journal, and the bible study journal. Make sure to sign up for our email list to be one of the first ones notified when our journals are available for purchase.
